Prefabricated Package Plantroom Solutions
HMP Elmley
HM Prison Elmley, Kent have recently purchased a prefabricated package plantroom from CAS.
The bespoke unit contains a bio-mass boiler and fuel store (capable to supplying forty-eight m² of wood chips) and a backup heating system-powered by 2 no. gas fired boilers, all associated pumps, expansion vessels, pressurisation unit and buffer vessel.
A detailed design for the plantroom was also prepared by CAS to order integrating the fuel store and equipment needed to maintain the bio-mass boilers operation.
Below is a schematic layout prepared by CAS detailing all pipework, equipment, valve schedule and controls details in order to assist our project engineers and pipe fitters during the installation phase. A copy of all drawings is issued to the Client as part of the CAS O&M Manual during the final handover of the project.
Ravensbourne College, London
Ravensbourne College in London is a new build located adjacent to the O2 arena. To date it is the largest prefabricated package plantroom CAS have ever manufactured measuring a massive 15 x 8 x 4m.
Constructed of two sections the unit contained all required equipment to supply the building with heating, hot water and chilled water.
Within the unit pump sets, expansion vessels, pipework and air & dirt separators were fitted for connection to the roof mounted chillers in order to allow pumping of chilled water around the systems.
Boilers and pumps associated with heating and hot water production were also included within the complete plantroom.
CAS also provided a contract lift and delivery to site of both plantroom sections. With a combined weight of over 50 tonnes the package plantroom required two large lorries and a 500 tonne crane to safely complete the lift.
Once the plantroom was successfully delivered to site it was craned onto the College’s roof to allow connection of the out going services feeding the building.
Mechanical Installations
E.C.M.W.F, Shinfield Park, Reading
CAS have recently completed the installation of 3 no. chiller units and all associated pipework at the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts. This completed the second phase of the chilled water refurbishment at the site and signals the continued relationship between CAS and E.C.M.W.F.
